Turn your computer into a Nintendo DS download station

DS download station As those who’ve been lucky enough to stumble into a shop carrying them knows, various outlets across the country (and indeed the world) have fancy download stations that let you download demos of various games onto your Nintendo DS for some sampling.

Only problem is that going to these places is usually a bit of a chore, and of course you don’t want to be doing it in a place like Mansfield — home of myself — where you’re likely to get your DS mugged off you the second you whip it out. So what’s the answer? To turn your PC into a download station of course!

It’s surprisingly simple looking, although probably not recommended for those who don’t know what they’re doing as it looks like your wireless can’t act as its usual internet-able self while in DS mode, even though it’s revertable. It comes as a six-step guide and even has complementary photographs so you can see what you need to do.

If you’re feeling brave and the list of steps doesn’t scare you too much, by all means give it go. If you’re successful (or not) and wouldn’t mind sharing how it went, it’d be nice if you could share some specifics in a comment such as exactly what is available for download. I haven’t done it myself so I don’t know.

That actually looks really easy - shame I don’t have a DS. Could it be jimmied to allow transfer of full games, I wonder? I have no idea of course, but I suspect not.

I’d _assume_ not since I’m not sure the DS has enough room onboard to take a full game, but then I don’t know how exactly it works. Maybe it just streams the game or something.

What we need is someone adventurous like Huz to give it a go! ;D

Hey I have one of the required network adaptors, but when I go to update the driver and select the proper folder it keeps saying “The wizard could not find the software on your computer…” I’ve tried this on a couple of computers and keep getting the same result. I’m using a brand new Linksys WUSB54G ver. 4 network adaptor and have not even installed the linksys driver. I’ve also tried downloading the ds driver a couple of times to no avail. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

I Have Posted The Solution To Your Problem (Greg) On http://www.jkwtv.co.nr as it allows longer messages than this one does. My solution worked for me and i’m using a linksys adapter. Not the same as Greg’s but it’s still Linksys

If you have the Wii all you have to do is download the ninendo channel for free. Every month they have new game demos
